THOMASVILLE, GA — The Thomas University women's basketball team will travel for SUN Conference competition again this weekend, this time traveling to West Palm Beach in a battle of the "hawks" from Keiser University.
The Night Hawks (1-13, 1-7 SUN) will hope to complete the series sweep over the Seahawks, as TU held a 59-43 advantage over Keiser in November of 2021, which opened this season's conference play.
After narrowly losing to Warner on January 6th, the Night Hawks have now lost two straight contest by double digits, most recently to the Mariners from Coastal Georgia 82-91. Additionally, TU's single non-conference contest of January (Trinity Baptist College) was postponed, so the Night Hawks will try to bounce back against Keiser in search of the team's first two-game win streak over the Seahawks since the 2015-16 season.
The Seahawks (14-7, 5-4 SUN) enter Saturday's contest seeking a win, as the team currently sits a game removed from third place, just crossing the midway section of this season's SUN Conference schedule.
Thomas' upset win against Keiser earlier this season saw the Night Hawks control the contest throughout, outscoring the Skyhawks offense in every quarter of action. Junior transfer Ta'Nija Watson became a floor general picking up a season-best nine assists to go alongside eight points in the Conference opener, while Freshman guard Jaleigh Miller led the team in scoring shooting 4-9 from the field adding 14 points. Recently, the Green & White has been led by Destiny Reed, as the graduate student forward has found an offensive rhythm averaging nearly 18 points per contest for the month of January.
Entering the weekend, Keiser maintains a strong series lead, 11-7, over the Night Hawks.
TU's chance to narrow the gap at the Rollie Massimino Court at Countess de Hoernle Student Life Center is scheduled for 2 p.m. Fans unable to attend the game can follow the live action through the links below:
