Night Hawks Out of Sync in SUN Loss

TU Ties Season-High Steals Mark (14)

BRUNSWICK, Ga. – The Thomas University Men's basketball team came to Georgia's east coast looking for its fourth, SUN Conference win, but instead the Night Hawks appeared lost at the Coffin Gym Saturday afternoon, falling to Coastal Georgia 68-60.

TU (9-9, 3-5 SUN) struggled on the court offensively, only converting 37% from the floor.  One silver lining in the Green & White's shooting was from the free-throw line: Thomas hit a perfect 10-for-10 from the charity stripe.

Senior Guard Jordan Booker came up with an unorthodox double-double, leading the Night Hawks with 16 points and 10 steals.

For the first half of the first half, both Thomas and Coastal Georgia (7-8, 2-6 SUN) were deadlocked in a defensive battle until Mariners' Elijah Goodman hit a jumper that ignited a blazing 19-2 scoring run for CCGA over a 7:25 span, giving the team a 29-13 lead at the 2:25 mark.  The Mariners would finish the half holding a 34-21 lead heading into the locker room.

Thomas came out firing to start the second half, quickly cutting the deficit to five (34-29) in the first two and a half minutes, en route to a 23-10 run that would see the contest tied at 44 apiece with 10:25 left.

The Mariners would recover, retaking the lead down the stretch and into the waning moments of the contest.  After a jumper from Fifth-year forward DeSean Enzor cut TU's deficit to 64-60 with 1:12 left in the game, Coastal Georgia's Jordon Parks made a costly turnover that resulted in a Booker steal, but the Powder Springs, Ga. native was unable to convert on a fastbreak reverse layup, giving possession back to the Mariners and forcing a foul.  CCGA missed the one-and-one, providing a second opportunity to close the gap, but once again Thomas failed to convert a basket on the quick jumper, leading to another ensuing Mariners' possession and eventual free-throws that would clinch the 68-60 win for Coastal Georgia.
