Looking for a Win, Thomas Heads to Coastal Georgia

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University Women's basketball team will travel to compete against SUN Conference competition again this weekend, traveling to Brunswick, Georgia to face-off against the Mariners from Coastal Georgia.

The Night Hawks (1-12, 1-8 SUN) will hit the road for the South Georgia showdown in search of the team's first road win of the 2021-22 season.

Additionally, the Night Hawks enter Saturday's matchup hoping the win could come from a struggling Coastal Georgia team (4-12, 0-7 SUN). The Mariners have now lost nine of their last ten, and, CCGA is yet to win any Conference games this season losing by an average of eleven points per game in SUN competition.

The Night Hawks are led by Graduate student Destiny Reed, who continues to lead Thomas in point production with eleven points per game, while Junior guard Ta'Nija Watson has found her role as the teams' facilitator, dishing out nearly four assists per contest.

On the other side of things, Kaliyah Little leads the Mariners in scoring (12.7 points per game), while SaQuira Porter leads the team in rebounding bringing down just under seven boards per contest.

CCGA could be another close match for the Night Hawks despite the overall series between Thomas and Coastal Georgia being heavily favored towards the Mariners, 14-4. Last year, the Night Hawks split the season series with Coastal, winning at home in the TU Gymnasium before losing on the road at CCGA.

Saturday's contest could be an opportunity for the Night Hawks to break a lasting winless road streak against Coastal, as Thomas' last win in the Coffin Gymnasium was in November of 2015. Tipoff in Brunswick, Georgia is set for 2 p.m.  Fans unable to attend the game can follow the action live by accessing the links below:
