THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University softball team will look to rebound this week, travelling to Hardeeville, S.C. Wednesday to face USC-Beaufort for The Sun Conference Doubleheader of the Week.
TU (13-11, 4-6 TSC) was left searching for answers Saturday after dropping both games to Keiser, but now can focus solely on its lone doubleheader of the week against a rivaled opponent they went toe-to-toe with just last week at Armory Field. The Lady Night Hawks split the series with the Sand Sharks (14-12, 5-5 TSC), taking the first contest 3-2 before falling 4-3.
The Hunter Green & White will also look towards a revival at the plate, as the team hit no better than .217 in all but one game last week. Batting average (.333) and RBI (16) leader
Holly Campbell was limited to five total hits in the previous week, but managed to bring in runs in three of those hits. As a result of the team's hitting performance, the team average dropped just under .300 heading into Wednesday.
Despite the overall week, TSC Pitcher of the Week
Larran Carter continued to improve overall from the circle, allowing no runs in only three hits the entire week. Senior
Rebecca Boesen (7-4) may not have had the ideal week in her previous three contests at the pitcher's circle, allowing just under eight hits a game, but the Bradenton, Fla. native still holds a 1.62 ERA on the season, a Top Five mark in The Sun Conference.
USCB has won four of the last six games since its last meeting against Thomas. Zinia Hampleton went 1-for-3 from the plate in half of the games USCB played this past week, and now leads the team's batting average (.300).
While the Sand Sharks' hitting has maintained status quo, the pitching unit continues to grow stronger as the season progresses. Since TU, primary pitcher Ally Muraskin has only allowed six hits in her last 48 at-bats that featured 19 strikeouts in that span.
In the overall series' eight meetings in South Carolina, the Sand Sharks have won six of those contests.
First pitch at Richard Gray Sports Complex is set for 2 p.m. Fans can follow the live action by accessing the links below:
