THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Even against a nationally-ranked opponent could not stop the Thomas University baseball team's winning revival Tuesday evening, as the Night Hawks defeated #19 Freed-Hardeman 6-4 in a single, nine-game inning at Varnedoe Stadium.

TU (14-16, 3-6 TSC) won its 10th contest out of the previous 11, recording a season-high 15 hits.  Redshirt Junior Thomas Sorrentino (1-0) picked up his first win of the season as Redshirt Senior Jorge Meran was awarded the Save.

The first inning was off to a fast start, as Freed-Hardeman (14-11, 8-2 MSC) began the game with two hits that the Lions converted to runs from a wild pitch and an infield error to take a 2-0 lead.  The Night Hawks quickly responded in the bottom of the inning, as TU's leadoff hits set up Redshirt Sophomore Raines Plant's RBI single to give Thomas its first run of the contest.  The Hunter Green & White would take the lead (4-2) on the next at-bat, thanks to a three-run homer by Redshirt Junior Brad Toxen.

Plant would add another RBI single in the bottom of the second to extend TU's lead to three runs (5-2).

FHU took advantage of a Night Hawk error in the third, as Josh Sears rounded three bases to score and bring the lead back down to two runs.

Plant hit his third RBI in the sixth inning, bringing home Redshirt Sophomore Anthony Dorak to give Thomas a 6-3 lead.

After a Lions' home run in the top of the eighth brought the score to 6-4, TU brought in Meran in the ninth, who threw two strikeouts and a ground out to secure the 6-4 win over the 2018 NAIA World Series Finalsit.
