THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University Women's basketball team will look to upstart its momentum Thursday, as the team goes toe-to-toe with Warner University.
For TU (1-13, 1-13 TSC) to grab a hold of its The Sun Conference tournament aspirations, a win is crucial over a Royals (6-15, 1-13 TSC) team that just edged Thomas 50-48 nearly three weeks earlier. The Lady Night are fresh off its best shooting performance from the field (47.1%), but limited chances and a red-hot Warrior offense stifled the Hunter Green & White last time out.
Since the TU-WU meeting in Lake Wales, Fla., Warner's Haley Gantt has taken charge of the Royals' production, leading the team in scoring average (13.06), rebound average (9) and block average (1.53). The Navy & Gold also sharpened its 3-Pt. Percentage, ranking second in The Sun Conference (30.6%).
While the season may have been filled with mostly disappointment, Thomas' chances of success Thursday evening are pretty high at TU Gymnasium. While the Hunter Green & White gives up 33.4% of long range shots, the team allows under 29% at home. Nearly half of Warner's scoring comes from 3-Ptrs., despite attempting the most shots in TSC.
Another added bonus for Thomas is Warner's road woes: the Royals are 0-9 as the away team during the 2020-21 campaign. WU's offense is also limited, averaging just over 54 points in road games.
The Lady Night Hawks lead the overall series against Warner 16-4.
Tipoff at TU Gymnasium is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Fans can follow the live action by accessing the links below:
