THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University softball team did not disappoint its fans in the team's home opener against #9 Truett-McConnell, splitting the day Sunday afternoon at Armory Field.
Game One Recap (TU 2, #9 TMC 0)
Thomas went toe-to-toe with the Lady Bears, as the grinder saw a total of seven combined hits. Junior Pitcher
Rebecca Boesen (3-0) allowed just four hits on the day in a full seven innings pitched while recording eight strikeouts.
The game's lone runs came in the bottom of the fourth inning, when a single from Freshman
Jaelynn Vialpando set up a 2HR blast from Junior
Corryne Diaz.
After going up 2-0, the Lady Night Hawks made sure to tighten its grip on the lead, leading to no hits allowed by Boesen.
TMC pitcher Bethany Hyde (1-2) was credited with the loss, giving up three hits.
Game Two Recap (#9 TMC 4, TU 0)
Truett-McConnell was rejuvenated in the doubleheader's second game, recording nine hits en route to a 4-0 shutout of the Hunter Green & White.
Thomas' pitching was split between Juniors Shaela Brown (0-1) and
Larran Carter. Carter entered the top of the fourth inning with two outs and kept the Lady Bears at bay, allowing just two hits while recording two strikeouts.
