Box Score THOMASVILLE, GA — The Thomas University Women's basketball team competed in an exhibition contest in Boca Raton, Florida Monday night, losing to Lynn University 78-45.
The Night Hawks were led by Freshman Jaleigh Miller, who once again came off the bench scoring 14 points. Junior guard Amayla Sharif turned in another solid contest, scoring ten points on 4-8 shooting. But, despite the efforts, the Fighting Knights jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back, as they finished the first quarter leading 29-11 with the margin never striking single-digits again.
Overall, the Night Hawks struggled shooting the ball, knocking 34.6% of their shots from the field, with the long-range shooting continuing to let TU down, shooting 0-9 from behind the arc. Both teams took decent care of the basketball, as each team coughed up 11 turnovers. Lynn also more than doubled Thomas in the rebounding column, grabbing 38 boards compared to TU's 18. The Fighting Knights ended up with 18 assists compared to just six for Thomas, as Lynn picked up the 78-45 season-opening win.
Next up for Thomas, the Night Hawks travel home for two critical SUN Conference contests. First up, TU will battle against Ave Maria on Thursday, November 18th, before hosting the Fire from Southeastern on Saturday.
Tipoff on Thursday against the Gyrenes is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
The first 30 students in attendance will receive free TU Apparel, as fans are encouraged to participate in NEON DAY by showing up in their "loudest" clothes.
