Thomas Looking to Bounce Back Against Seahawks

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University Women's basketball team travels to West Palm Beach, Fla. to take on Keiser Thursday evening in The Sun Conference play.

The Lady Night Hawks (1-10, 1-10 TSC) come off a tough week that included matches against two of the top three teams in TSC.  TU saw two players with career performances against Webber; Senior Guard Alisha Clayton picked up her fourth double-double (16 points, 16 boards) on the season while Junior Forward Dyani Sheppard scored a career-high 15 points.

Keiser (10-7, 7-5 TSC) comes off a 70-44 loss to the Fire that snapped a four-game win streak.  The Seahawks have been mostly red-hot in the month of January, shooting 40% from the floor and 31.3% from long range.  Defensively, Keiser's 3-Pt. Defensive Percentage leads the conference (27%).

KU's team success of shooting the 3-ball (31.3%) starts with Emily Patton, who nearly averages three Made 3-Ptrs. a game and shoots over 40% outside the arc.  With her success long-range, it makes sense that Patton leads Keiser in Points per Game average (16.53).

For the Lady Night Hawks to maximize the team's chances of a win, TU must take advantage of the Seahawks' Achilles' Heel: Turnovers.  Keiser continues to struggle with turnovers on the season, averaging 20.3 a game.

In the teams' last meeting in December, the Lady Night Hawks forced 20 turnovers with only six, active players.  Even when TU was down by as many as 12 late in the 4th Period, the Hunter Green & White took advantage of turnovers and fouls by KU to cut the deficit to five points, but Thomas' 53.8% Free-Throw performance on the day cost the team a chance to win, falling 68-62.  With more depth this time around and a 69% charity stripe conversion rate or better the previous two games,

Tipoff at the de Hoernle Student Life Center is slated for 5:30 p.m.  Links to follow the live action can be found below:
