THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University Women's Basketball team has a chance to win a regular season series Thursday evening, as the team travels east on US-84 and into Brunswick, Ga. to take on the Mariners of Coastal Georgia in The Sun Conference action.
The Lady Night Hawks (1-8, 1-8 TSC) will look to rebound from a tough defeat against TSC's top team. Thomas' 3-Pt. offense has proven to be a bright spot as of late; the team has shot 40% or better from long range in three of its last four outings. TU also comes off an 11-steal performance, now averaging nearly eight steals in the last three contests.
Senior Guard
Alexis Powell may have continued to see limited shot attempts, but has now gone a combined 12-for-21 from downtown in the last three games. Senior Forward
Destiny Reed has scored double-digits in all but two contests this season. Reed averages 54% from the field and leads the team in Steals per Game (1.75).
Since their last meeting against TU, Coastal Georgia (6-6, 4-5 TSC) has not been at their best. The Mariners struggled against Warner Tuesday, but managed to hang on for a 61-53 win despite poor showings from outside the arc (29.4%) and the free throw line (48%). Kaliyah Little continues to drive CCGA's offense, averaging 15.42 Points a Game, shooting nearly 40% from the field. Little tallied 25 points against the Lady Night Hawks in the team's last meeting.
The Mariners lead the overall series 12-4, dating back to 2013. CCGA has been strong at home (7-1) against the Lady Night Hawks, with its lone home loss of the series occuring in 2015 in an 85-78 overtime defeat to Thomas.
