THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University baseball team lost 15-0, 13-12 to No. 4 Southeastern University (Fla.) Saturday at Varnedoe Stadium.
Game One
SEU scored six runs in the first two innings, added four in the fourth, four more in the sixth and one in the seventh to take the 15-0 win.
Thomas collected only three hits in the game, one each from
Luis Martinez,
Jake Bryan and
Randy Heller.
Pitcher
Thomas Sorrentino took the loss, allowing nine runs from eight hits and three walks in 3.1 innings.
Game Two
Thomas struck first with two runs in the bottom of the first, then SEU scored one in the top of the second, but TU answered with two more runs in the bottom of the frame. SEU then plated nine in the fifth, but the Night Hawks responded again, this time with five runs, to trail 10-9 after five innings. Each team scored two in the seventh and one in the ninth, to give SEU the 13-12 win.
Martinez was 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI and
Victor Terrero connected on a 3-run homer.
Alex Mitchell hit the team's first triple of the season, collecting an RBI on the shot.
Starting pitcher
Hassan Westbrook allowed six runs from nine hits through 4.1 innings, then
Sammy Loveday came in for relief. Loveday was tagged with the loss, also allowing six runs from nine hits, in 2.1 innings.
