MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Thomas University baseball team lost a pair of games, 14-3 and 7-1, to No. 6 Faulkner University Saturday at Harrison Field. 

For the second straight weekend, Thomas has faced a team ranked in the NAIA Coaches Top 25 Poll, battling No. 22 Middle Georgia State last weekend, now No. 6 Faulkner. 

Game One
Faulkner scored one run in the bottom of the first, then Thomas tied the game in the top of the third. Faulkner added three in the third and Thomas scored two in the fourth. But Faulkner went on to score three in the bottom of the frame, five in the fifth and two more in the sixth. 

Thomas Sorrentino struck out seven in 4.0 innings, but took the loss after giving up seven runs, five earned, from eight hits and one walk. 

TU scored its first run in the top of the third. With one out, Rodwell Munoz reached on a base hit then stole second base and later swiped third base and scored on a wild pitch. 

In the fourth inning, with one out and Brad Toxen on base after a single to shallow right, Jake Bryan hit a two run home run, over the left field fence, on a 1-1 count. 

Game Two
The Night Hawks struck first with one run in the top of the first inning, but Faulkner scored three in the second and never looked back, plating one more in the fifth and a trio in the sixth. 

In the top of the first, Luis Martinez reached on a leadoff walk, then Randy Heller put down a sac bunt then Toxen grounded out to second, advancing Martinez to third. Tyler Keaton then hit an infield single to the right side, plating TU's lone run of the game. 

Starting pitcher Jorge Meran struck out six in 4.0 innings, but allowed three runs from five hits and a trio of walks to take the loss.

Thomas and Faulkner face off at noon Sunday in the final game of the series, then battle Valdosta State on the road Feb. 4 at 5 p.m.
