THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University Women's basketball team will look to pick up its first win of the season Saturday as the team hosts Keiser University in The Sun Conference play.
The Lady Night Hawks (0-3, 0-3 TSC) will face their third TSC opponent in four games that specializes in the 3-Point game; Keiser enters Saturday with TSC's best percentage (.333). For TU, defending the 3-Pt, line has been a staple in the team's identity. Earlier this season, TU held Webber International and Coastal Georgia to 27.1% and 30%, respectively, from outside the arch. As a result, the Hunter Green & White boasts a 25% 3-Pt. Defense Percentage, a 24th-best in NAIA. TU's defense will be put to the test once again, as the Seahawks also lead TSC in 3-Pointers Made per Game (7.8)
Keiser (1-4, 1-2 TSC) comes off an 81-74 win over Coastal Georgia Thursday night. Antigonie Sanabria leads the team in Scoring (12.8 Points a Game) and Rebounds (7.8 Boards a Game).
For Thomas to have a chance at defeating Keiser, the team will need to take advantage of any and all scoring opportunities. The Lady Night Hawks may have many offensive chances Saturday, as they face a team that averages 24.4 Turnovers per Game, the most in the conference. The Seahawks give up 40.1 % of shots from the field, a positive for a TU team that has converted just over 34% of its shots.
The free-throw game will also be a factor in this TSC showdown. KU averages the most Team Fouls per Game in the conference (23), which may prove for the Hunter Green & White as the team ranks second in TSC in Free Throw Percentage (67.3). While TU holds the second-fewest Fouls per Game in the conference, any foul given up will be costly, as the Seahawks boast TSC's best Free Throw Percentage, shooting over 73% from the charity stripe.
Tipoff at TU Gymnasium is scheduled for 2 p.m. Links to follow the game are listed below:
