THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University baseball team defeated University of South Carolina Beaufort, 11-1, Friday evening at Varnedoe Stadium.
Thomas is now 23-20 overall and sixth in the league with a 9-10 mark in the Sun Conference. USC Beaufort drops to 19-27, 4-17.
Thomas plated three in the third, then five in the fifth to take a commanding lead. USCB scored one in the seventh, but TU added two in the bottom of the frame and one in the eighth to win by 10.
Pitcher
Jorge Meran went the distance on the mound, striking out eight and allowing one unearned run from four hits and two walks in 8.0 innings.
Right fielder
Randy Heller led the Night Hawks with three hits, including a grand slam and two runs scored. Catcher
Jake Webb connected on a pair of hits and first baseman
Jake Bryan went 2-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored and a pair of drawn walks. Third baseman
Tyler Keaton also hit a home run, a solo shot in the fifth.
Thomas wraps up its regular season home schedule on Saturday with a doubleheader against the Sand Sharks. First pitch for the first game is at 11 a.m. at Varnedoe Stadium.
