Gilbert Drains Six from Long Range

BRUNSWICK, Ga. – Thomas University junior Samantha Gilbert drained six 3-pointers on her way to 30 points in Thomas University's 85-57 loss to College of Coastal Georgia Saturday afternoon. 

Gilbert was 6-of-10 beyond the arc, 11-of-19 from the field and hit both of her free throws for the Night Hawks. The six made threes are the most by an individual Night Hawk this season. 

Junior Jewel Montisano drained three treys to add 12 points and sophomore Alisha Clayton grabbed 11 rebounds and swiped four steals for TU. 

The Night Hawks combined to hit nine 3-pionters, tied for the third-most of the season, trailing 12 made at Selma, 10 made at Warner and tying nine vs. Brewton-Parker. 

The Thomas defense forced Coastal Georgia into 15 turnovers, and recorded seven steals. 

Coastal Georgia took the 19-10 lead after the first quarter, then TU trailed, 37-20, at the half. The Mariners outscored the Night Hawks 23-18 in the third and 25-19 in the fourth quarter. 

Thomas ends the regular season 10-19 overall and 7-11 in the Sun Conference.
