Joshua Scott had a career night with 46 points, seven rebounds, four assists and a steal in Thomas University's 92-85 loss to Florida Tech in the Winter Classic at the Charles and Ruth Clemente Center.
Scott was 16-of-22 from the field, 2-of-5 from downtown and he hit 12 of his 17 free throw attempts.
After being tied at 38 at the half, Thomas led, 53-52, with 13 minutes remaining in the game. Florida Tech went ahead by seven with seven minutes left, but a pair of made free throws from Scott cut the deficit to three, 72-69, at 4:33. Tech led 80-69 with 55 seconds remaining, and Thomas couldn't catch up.
Thomas hit 51.5 percent (34-66) from the field and only had nine turnovers in the game.
Trint Bryan added 10 points, three rebounds and an assist, and
Quante Smith put up eight points and grabbed nine rebounds while swatting three shots for the third straight game.
Thomas next travels to Alabama to play University of Alabama at Birmingham in an exhibition game Dec. 28, then hosts Florida Memorial University Jan. 9 at the TU Gymnasium.
