Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | MIAMI SHORES, Fla.

WSoccer Ends Season at JWU

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Thomas University women's soccer team ended the 2019 campaign Saturday, falling, 3-2 in overtime, to Johnson and Wales University in the quarterfinal of The Sun Conference Tournament at Miami Shores Recreation Field.

"We played well enough to earn one more game," said Head Coach Julie Orlowski. "We created plenty of opportunities but their goalkeeper made several brilliant saves to keep them in the match."

Thomas ends the season 9-9-1 overall and 5-4-1 in the Sun Conference.

"I couldn't be any more proud of this team," said Orlowski. "They battled and endured so much adversity this season - on the field and off the field - yet every time they found their way, including today."

The Night Hawks went down, 2-0, in the second period, but fought back to tie the match in regulation. In the final seconds of the first overtime, JWU scored the game-winning goal to take the match, 3-2.

"We couldn't find the net until we went down 0-2," said Orlowski. "Then we answered on a great finish by JP [Jana Pastorek], with an assist to Emily [Linscer]. Then Taylor [Hults] tied it with a great free kick. We had wave after wave in front of the goal and couldn't find the winner."

Thomas outshot JWU 13-5 on goal and 29-15 overall. The Night Hawks took eight corners to JWU's six.

"Jen Clyde, Dana Blough and manager Angie Gutierrez ended their collegiate careers today," concluded Orlowski. "They leave this program better than they found it. I look forward to all they will accomplish in their futures."
