TU Ties with St. Thomas

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Thomas University women's soccer team played St. Thomas University to a 2-2 tie Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Field.

"This team continues to impress me," said Head Coach Julie Orlowski. "We allowed a bad goal early and responded very quickly to tie the game. We then got off to a slow start in the second half and went down again, only to battle through and tie the game with only three minutes left on the clock."

TU is now 6-4-1 overall and undefeated 2-0-1 in the Sun Conference.

After St. Thomas scored early in the match, TU answered with a goal from Jana Pastorek to tie the match at one apiece going into the half.

STU again scored early in the half, then with one minute left in the match, Analeice Wilkes scored on a deflection off a free kick.

In the first overtime, Pastorek had one shot on goal, then in the second extra period, Hadas Prawer's shot in the final minute sailed wide to end the match in a tie.

"Both teams had opportunities to win the game in OT," said Orlowski. "Lucy [Apps] came up big from point blank range early and again late to hold on for the tie."

Goalkeeper Lucy Apps made 10 saves and allowed two goals in 100 minutes in goal.

"Any time you can go on the road in conference play and bring back points is a great thing," Orlowski concluded. "Now the challenge is to recover and get ready for a tough SCAD team on Wednesday."

The Night Hawks next travel to Georgia to play SCAD-Savannah Oct. 9, then return to the TU Soccer Complex to play Ave Maria Oct. 12 at 3 p.m.
