THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Thomas University's
Lauren West struck out 11 and TU softball improved to 9-1 after winning two games against Brewton-Parker Tuesday afternoon at Armory Field. The Night Hawks won the first game 3-0, then followed it with an 8-0 victory in game two.

Lauren West struck out 11 and allowed just two hits in 7.0 innings in game one to improve to 3-1 this season. West sat down at least one batter in every inning, and in four innings, struck out two batters.
Thomas travels to Gulf Shores, Ala., this weekend to play in the Gulf Coast Invitational. TU faces Culver-Stockton (Mo.) at 9 a.m. Friday, then Blue Mountain (Miss.) at 1 p.m. On Saturday, the Night Hawks will play Lyon (Ark.) at 9 a.m.
Game One
Kelsey Connolly connected on her third home run of the season, a solo shot in the fourth.
A.J. Weiss then reached on an error, advanced to second on a single from
Izzy Ekstam and scored after another error by the Barons.
In the fifth, TU added another run as
Kait Stoltz singled, stole second, advanced to third after a single from Weiss, then stole home.
Game Two
Thomas loaded the scoreboard in the second inning, scoring six runs from four hits and a pair of B-PC errors. TU added one in the third and a final run in the fifth to take the 8-0 win.
Taisa Kirindongo was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI while
Michael Cooper was 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored.
Starter Margarita Sena earned the win, pitching 3.0 innings and allowing just two hits. Rebecca Boesen didn't allow a hit in two innings of relief.
Kirindongo doubled and collected a pair of RBI as
A.J. Weiss and Cooper scored for Thomas in the second. Weiss had reached on an error and Cooper tagged a single. Ekstam reached on a fielder's choice, then Olivia Garcia reached on an error, plating Kirindongo and Ekstam. Garcia then scored on a passed ball.
Victoria Camina then drew a one-out walk, stole second and scored on a single by
Gaby Mora.
Singles from Cooper and Camina, along with a double from Kirindongo gave Thomas the 7-0 lead after the third.
Cameryn Herrera was hit by a pitch to lead off the fifth, then singles from Shelby Stephens and Kirindongo plated TU's final run.
