ALBANY, Ga. – Thomas University's two runs in the final two innings wasn't enough as the Night Hawks lost, 5-2, to Albany State University Tuesday afternoon. 

CF Jalbert Melo and 1B Levi Hollingsworth each were 2-for-4 with an RBI in the game. RHP Brandon Geiger started the game and took the loss, allowing three runs from four hits in 2.0 innings. Three relievers – RHP Logan Hollyman (2), RHP Bent Summers (1) and LHP Dillon Rutland (3) combined for six strikeouts over the final six innings. 

Albany State scored one in the first and two in the second to take the early lead. The Golden Rams added one in the fourth and one in the sixth before Thomas scored one in each of the final two frames. 

In the eighth, RF Logan Place tripled, then scored on a base hit from Melo. One inning later, C Gavin Murphy shot a single to right field, then Keefer Beaty came in to pinch run. Singles from DH Justin Young and Hollingsworth plated Beaty. 

Thomas next hosts a three-game series against Siena Heights (Mich.) this weekend. First pitch on Saturday is at 4 p.m. at Varnedoe Stadium, then the teams will play a double header beginning at noon on Sunday.
