Joshua Scott netted 26 points on 8-of-10 shooting to lead Thomas University to an 86-70 victory over Webber International Thursday night.
Thomas improves to 7-3 overall and 4-1 in the Sun Conference, while Webber International drops to 4-7, 0-4.
The Night Hawks hit 51.7 percent (30-58) from the field and 42.1 percent (8-of-19) from three and held Webber to 31.5 percent (23-73) overall and 22.6 percent (7-of-31) from distance. Thomas scored 21 points off of the Warriors' 13 turnovers and 34 points in the paint.
Hood recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds as
Sheldon Hendrix posted 17 points, three rebounds and three assists for TU.
Webber held the 4-3 lead with 17:07 left in the first, then Thomas never trailed again, going ahead by 12 after a fastbreak dunk from Scott with 13:20 remaining in the half. The Night Hawks took off on a 21-11 run over the final seven minutes of the first stanza to lead, 49-32, at the break.
Webber made a comeback, drawing the score within 12 midway through the second half, but Thomas never let the Warriors any closer, earning the 86-70 win.
TU returns to the hardwood Saturday at 4 p.m. in Lake Wales, Fla., facing Warner University, which is receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches Top 25 Poll.
