NEW ORLEANS, La. – Thomas University's
Dexter Hood netted 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the Night Hawks' 86-59 loss to Xavier University of Louisiana (NAIA Division I) Tuesday afternoon.
Hood was 8-of-12 from the field and added two assists for TU. Freshman
Trint Bryant was also 8-of-12 on his way to 19 points, and recorded three assists and a steal.
Thomas (7-6) hit 45.3 percent (24-of-53) from the field and was 7-of-10 at the line.
The Night Hawks fell behind, 24-9, midway through the first half, then trailed 41-22 at the break. Despite Bryant's 12 and Hood's 11 second-half points, Thomas couldn't catch up in the second stanza, falling 45-37, in the final 20 minutes.
The Night Hawks next play Southern University at New Orleans Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 1 p.m. in the Xavier University of Louisiana Tournament.
