NEW ORLEANS, La. – Freshman
Trint Bryant scored 24 points and dished out four assists in Thomas University's 78-72 win over Southern University of New Orleans (La.) Wednesday afternoon.
Bryant was 5-of-8 from the field, knocked down all three of his treys, and went 11-of-13 at the line for his second straight game with at least 19 points.
Thomas, which is receiving votes in the latest NAIA Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll, improves to 8-6 after defeating SUNO, an NAIA Division I team.
Dexter Hood added a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while
Jordan Radcliff and
Adrian Sims each netted 11 points for TU.
The Night Hawks drained 50.9 percent (27-53) of its shots, and went 9-of-18 from three, while hitting 78.9 percent (15-of-19) at the line. TU's defense held SUNO to 30.8 percent (8-26) from long range.
Thomas jumped out to a 43-24 first half lead, then held off SUNO's second-half surge to win, 78-72.
After playing seven of the last eight, and five straight, on the road Thomas returns to the TU Gymnasium Jan. 3 to face No. 8 Southeastern University in Sun Conference action at 7:30 p.m.
