WEST POINT, Ga. – Thomas University junior
Joshua Scott scored 16 points and added 12 rebounds in the Night Hawks' 80-76 loss to Point University Saturday afternoon.
Scott added seven assists, two steals and a block while
Dexter Hood put up 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds for TU.
Thomas, which is receiving votes in national polls, is now 7-5 on the season.
Thomas hit 41.8 percent (28-67) from the field and 43.8 percent (7-16) from three while knocking down 81.3 percent (13-16) at the line. TU outscored Point 34-20 in the paint and outrebounded the Skyhawks, 42-40.
With 4:13 remaining in the first, Thomas took an 11-point lead after a jumper from Hood, but Point went on a 10-0 run over the next 90 seconds to draw the score within one. The Night Hawks led, 38-34, at the half, but Point outscored TU, 46-38, in the second to take the win.
Point took its first lead of the second stanza with 16:00 left in game, then went on to an 11-point lead with 13:00 left.
Kadeem Webb knocked down a three with 3:04 remaining to draw the deficit to three, 69-66. Hood hit a three with four seconds left, but Point hit four-straight free throws to earn the win.
The Night Hawks next play in the Tournament at Xavier University in New Orleans, La. Thomas plays Xavier of Louisiana at 3 p.m. Dec. 18.
