THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University men's soccer team lost, 1-0, to Southeastern University Friday afternoon in the Sun Conference Championship finals.
The Night Hawks, the regular season champions, fall to 9-4-2 overall and Southeastern improves to 12-2-2.
TU and SEU traded shots the first 24 minutes, then Thomas went on the attack, taking three shots in three minutes. But at the 30:05 mark, Southeastern snuck one in, scoring what would be the game-winner. The Night Hawks took only one shot the remainder of the half and didn't allow SEU any shots.
The Fire came out of halftime taking a pair of shots in the first eight minutes, before Thomas' header by
Logan Moriarty was saved. The Night Hawks couldn't convert on consecutive shots from
Rene Rivera and
Myke Zamor in the 63rd minute, or a pair of corners in the next minute.
Thomas outshot Southeastern 5-3 in the final 20 minutes, but could not find the back of the net.
The Night Hawks now await their fate, as the NAIA Men's Soccer Championship bracket reveal is Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. on Facebook.
