Box Score SELMA, Ala. – The Thomas University women's basketball team defeated Selma University, 82-72, Wednesday night at the Dawg Pound.
The Night Hawks (2-1) hit 44.3 percent (27-61) from the field and 46.2 percent from long range, knocking down 12 treys. TU held Selma to 18.8 percent from three, allowing just 3-of-16 made shots.
Junior
Samantha Gilbert led the way with 17 points, knocking down four 3-pointers and hitting 3-of-3 at the line. Senior
Micah Garvin came off the bench to add 15 points, while senior
Dymon Brown added 13 points, draining three from distance.
Sophomore
Alisha Clayton and senior
De'Audra Copeland each pulled down a team-high six rebounds.
Thomas led, 16-15, after the first quarter, then extended its margin to take a 36-31 edge going into the half. TU broke out in the third quarter, outscoring Selma 35-23, then despite being outscored 18-11 in the fourth, held on to win by 10.
The Night Hawks' home opener is Nov. 10 when TU hosts Faulkner University at 2 p.m. at the TU Gymnasium.
