THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Thomas University senior Micah Garvin scored 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the Night Hawks' 78-68 loss to Middle Georgia State University Monday night at the TU Gymnasium.

Garvin was 6-of-15 from the field and 5-of-5 at the line. She added a team-high four assists, two steals and a block for TU.

The Night Hawks (2-3) led, 36-35, at the half, then were outscored, 21-13, in the third to give MGSU the advantage with one quarter to play. TU fought back in the fourth, but couldn't make up the margin, falling, 78-68.

Thomas knocked down eight 3-pointers, seven in the first half, marking the third game this season with at least eight made from beyond the arc. TU also hit 10 free throws, the fourth of five outings with double-digit made charity shots.

Junior Samantha Gilbert led Thomas with 19 points, and senior Dymon Brown had 15, each hitting a trio of threes. Both ladies grabbed seven rebounds.

Middle Georgia took an early five-point lead, but Thomas gained the 14-13 advantage with one minute left in the first quarter. The Night Hawks went ahead by as many as five in the second quarter, and led by one going into the locker room.

MGSU made a layup in the first 20 seconds after the half, and the Knights never trailed again, taking a 12-point lead with 7:19 left in the third.

After nearly three scoreless minutes in the fourth, Brown put back a tip-in to begin a run for Thomas. A jumper by Alisha Clayton with 4:55 left brought TU within one. After trading baskets, MGSU hit a three at 2:52 to extend the lead to five, and take off on a 12-7 run to end the game.

In the third contest of a four-game homestand, Thomas will open Sun Conference action Nov. 11 against Keiser University at 5:30 p.m. in the TU Gymnasium. The final game of the home stretch is Nov. 17 vs. Johnson and Wales University at 2 p.m.
