Night Hawks Win Long Ball Battle against Ave Maria

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University softball team drove in five runs off two home runs in an 8-3 win over Ave Maria University (Fla.) on Saturday at Armory Field. AMU scored all of its runs off home runs.

The Night Hawks improved to 25-6, 5-1 in The Sun Conference, while the Gyrenes went to 16-8, 3-2 in TSC. TU continues conference play against Warner University (Fla.), 4 p.m. on Friday in Lake Wales, Fla.

The Night Hawks scattered nine hits on the day, while Alaynah Weiss went 2-for-4 with three RBI's and two runs scored. Kaylee Smith hit 2-for-3 with three RBI's and a run scored.

Lauren West pitched the complete game with three runs on five hits and struck out seven, improving to 12-1.
