TU Tops Johnson & Wales, 71-56, in Season Finale

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – The Thomas University women's basketball team ended the 2016-17 season with a 71-56 victory over Johnson & Wales University (Fla.) on Saturday.

The Night Hawks finish the season with a 9-15, 6-10 Sun Conference record, while the Wildcats end the year with a 3-23, 2-12 Sun Conference record.

J'Nyiah Daniels led the Night Hawks with 17 points and three assists and added eight rebounds. Daycia Bandy produced a double-double for TU with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Arianna Anderson produced 16 points and nine rebounds, while Kriza Allen added 16 points and five rebounds.

The Night Hawks closed the first quarter on a 21-3 run and held a 23-8 lead after the first period.

Joelle Patterson converted a jumper for JWU and cut the TU lead to 33-24 in the second quarter. Allen ended the half with a made layup and gave the Night Hawks a 35-24 lead at halftime.

The Wildcats went on a 5-0 run in the third quarter and slimmed the TU lead to 37-31. The Night Hawks closed the period on a 6-0 run and took a 48-37 lead into the final quarter.

Daniels knocked down a three-pointer with less than five minutes to play that put TU ahead 65-46. De'Audra Copeland converted a layup with a minute and a half remaining and gave TU a 71-50 lead. The Wildcats ended the game with a 6-0 run.
