Night Hawks Fall Short at Southeastern

WINTER HAVEN, Fla – The Thomas University baseball team fell to Southeastern University (Fla.), 6-5 and 8-7, in the final games of a three game series at All Saints Academy on Saturday.

The Night Hawks fell to 7-9, 0-6 in The Sun Conference, while the Fire improved to 15-0, 6-0 in TSC. TU continues conference play at No. 12 Saint Thomas University (Fla.) in a double header starting at 3 p.m. on Friday in Miami Gardens, Fla.

Tanner Elsbernd led the way for the Night Hawks offensively going 7-for-9 with four runs scored and an RBI on the day.

GAME ONE

The Night Hawks hit two home runs in the game, while SEU scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to come up with the victory.

Tanner Long went 2-for-4, including a home run, with two runs scored and an RBI, while Elsbernd hit 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Dominic Berlin went 2-for-4, while Gavin Murphy hit 2-for-3.

David Wood pitched seven innings in the no decision with three runs on 10 hits and struck out 5. Chris Rzewnicki threw 1.1 innings allowing three runs on five hits and struck out one, while Jacob Moye recorded an out.

Elsbernd went 4-for-5 with three runs scored, while Murphy went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Hollingsworth hit 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Jalbert Melo went 2-for-6, including a home run, a run scored and an RBI.
 
Justin Young threw three innings with six runs on 10 hits and struck out one in the no decision, while Holden Alexander pitched 5.2 innings with two runs on three hits and struck out two in the loss.
