THOMASVILLE, Ga. - Thomas opens Sun Conference (TSC) play Thursday at Keiser (Fla.), which is receiving votes in the latest top 25 poll. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. ET.

ABOUT THOMAS

The Night Hawks are coming off a 94-44 exhibition loss to Rollins (Fla.), then-ranked No. 17 in the NCAA Division II WBCA Coaches' Poll, on Nov. 11 in the Veteran's Day Classic, hosted by Florida Tech.

Rollins outscored Thomas 28-12 in the first quarter and never trailed in its season opener.

Kriza Allen recorded 13 points to lead the Night Hawks. De'Audra Copeland and Arianna Anderson followed up with nine and eight points, respectively. Daycia Bandy had seven to lead all reserves. 

Allen and Anderson each had two steals.

ABOUT KEISER

The Seahawks are coming off a 75-71 win at Brewton-Parker (Ga.) on Monday in non-conference action.

Keiser's Kensha'dra Smith had 16 points, while Nikki Saunders added 13 off the bench. Midori Long finished with a near double-double of nine points and as many rebounds.

Keiser shot 70 percent at the free throw line this evening, 26-37, with Saunders going a perfect 9-9. 

With the game tied at 61, the Seahawks' defense limited Brewton-Parker to just three field goals down the stretch while converting five-of-six free throws to seal the game in the final minute.

Keiser ranks 32nd in NAIA Division II in scoring defense per game (61.6).

Saunders is 14th in free throw percentage (0.933).

LAST TIME OUT AGAINST THE SEAHAWKS

Keiser defeated Thomas, 65-58, inside TU Gymnasium on Jan. 28, 2017.

Micah Garvin led the Night Hawks with 15 points to go along with four rebounds. Samantha Gilbert added seven points and six boards.

The Night Hawks held an 11-5 lead, their largest of the game, in the first quarter.

The Seahawks answered with an 11-0 run and took a 23-17 lead in the second period. Copeland ended the period with a layup, but Keiser led 27-23 at halftime.

Keiser started the third quarter on a 10-1 run and extended its lead to 37-24. Garvin ended the third quarter with a made jumper to cut the Seahawks' upper hand to six, 43-37.

The Night Hawks put together a 7-0 run in the fourth quarter and cut the Seahawks lead to 51-50, but Keiser responded by scoring the next five points ended the game making six free throws.

  • Brown, only the second head coach in Thomas history, earned a win in his first game with the Night Hawks following a 65-61 victory over USCAA member Selma (Ala.) on Oct. 30 inside TU Gymnasium.
  • Thomas faces one ranked opponent - No. 4 Southeastern (Fla.) - and two that are receiving votes - Indiana Wesleyan and Keiser (Fla.) - in the 2017-18 NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Coaches' Preseason Top 25.
