Night Hawks Knock Off No. 21 St. Thomas 93-61

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Thomas University men's basketball team pulled off a 93-61 upset of No. 21 St. Thomas Thursday night at the Fernandez Family Center. TU had six players score in double figures.

The Night Hawks improved to 7-4, 2-3 in The Sun Conference, while the Bobcats went to 10-5, 2-2 in TSC. TU remains in south Florida to face No. 23 Keiser (Fla.), 4 p.m. Saturday in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Katrell Myers led the Night Hawks with 23 points and added four rebounds and three assists. Willie Holloway pulled down a team-best 10 rebounds and added 13 points for his first double-double of the season. Javoris Cooks dropped 13 points, while Jalen Bonds added 11 points.

The Night Hawks opened the game up 11-2 in part to an 8-0 run. TU took a 16-6 lead on a tip in by Holloway. Armand Shoon converted three straight three-pointers and brought the Bobcats within one at 16-15. The Night Hawks went on a 9-2 run including a fast break dunk by Myers and led 31-21.

TU ended the first half on an 8-0 run and took a 42-27 lead into the halftime break.

The Night Hawks started the first half with five straight baskets and opened up a 54-35 lead. TU went on a 7-1 run and extended the lead to 66-43 with 11 and a half minutes to play. The Night Hawks then went on a 10-2 run and led 78-48.

DJ Roulhac converted a layup and gave TU an 89-51 lead, it's largest lead of the game.

The Night Hawks shot 59.3 percent (35-of-59) from the floor and 47.1 percent (8-of-17) from behind the three-point line. TU also owned a 54-12 bench points advantage.
