Night Hawks Advance in Conference Tournament, 6-1, Over Warner

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Thomas University softball team took down Warner, 6-1, in the first game of The Sun Conference Tournament Thursday at the National Training Center. TU hit .444 as a team with four stolen bases in the game.

The Night Hawks improved to 20-20 on the season, while Warner fell to 22-23. Thomas faces the No. 1 seed, Southeastern, today at 2 p.m.

Ashley Sikes went 2-for-3 with two RBI's and a run scored, while Trinity Strickland went 2-for-2 with a run scored for the Night Hawks.

Katlyn Ficarrotta led the Royals and went 3-for-3, while Torey Scott scored the lone run for Warner.

In the first inning, Michael Cooper singled to left field and drove in Alex VanWagner for the first run of the game.

Chelsea Carter homered to right field in the fourth inning that became the winning run for the Night Hawks. In the same inning, Sikes recorded an inside the park home run that drove in Strickland.

TU added a run in each of the fifth and sixth innings.

Ashley Chapman threw the complete game with nine hits and four strikeouts.
