Box Score 2 BABSON PARK, FLA. – The Thomas University softball team was swept in doubleheader play, 9-1 and 7-5, against Webber International Saturday at Nancy Nichol's Field.
The Lady Night Hawks fell to 14-19, 2-6 in The Sun Conference, while the Lady Warriors improved to 22-10, 7-3 in The Sun Conference.
Webber capitalized on ten hits with two home runs and seven RBIs. Sophomore
Kayla Johnson went 2-for-2 at the plate and scored Thomas' lone run.
Katie Lopes (6-6) threw four innings with two strikeouts.
In game two, senior
Rachel Hoeft went 3-for-4 and recorded three RBIs for Thomas. Senior
Chelsea Carter added two RBIs to make it a 5-3 ballgame at the top of the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth, WIU's Brandi Hazen tied the game with a two-run homerun. The Lady Warriors would then pick up the winning runs in the sixth inning, as Shanelly Brown and Alyssa Householder would each hit an RBI to complete the sweep over TU with a 7-5 victory.
TU returns to action Sunday, when they travel to Ave Maria University to face the Lady Gyrenes in Sun Conference doubleheader action. First pitch is set for noon.
