Box Score 2 THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The TU Lady Night Hawks Softball team (10-9) swept the Brewton Parker College Lady Barons (9-8), 6-3 & 5-2, in a Tuesday afternoon double header at Armory Field.
Freshman starting pitcher
Megan Withrow (1-0) picked up her first collegiate victory, in a complete game effort, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits. Sophomore
Michael Cooper (2-3, 2 R, HR, RBI) continued her recent tear with her team leading fifth home run of the season. Sophomore
Kelsey Connolly (1-4, R, 2B, 2 RBI) contributed with two runs batted in.
In game two, BPC took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third but TU replied with a run in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game at one. The Lady Night Hawks added another run in the fourth and Cooper would break the game wide open with a two-out three run home run, extending her team lead in home runs, to make it a 5-1 game. Brewton Parker got a run back in the fifth but sophomore pitcher
Katie Lopes, who had relieved starting pitcher
Ashley Sikes, closed the door on the BPC rally. Sikes picked up the win and improved to 2-3, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits in four innings of work. Lopes limited BPC to only one hit over three innings for the save.
Thomas will be back in action, at home, on Saturday March 12
th when they host Concordia (Mich.) University. First pitch at Armory is set for 1 p.m.
