Box Score 4 THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The TU Softball Team (8-9) dropped three of five games at the Gulf Coast Invite, played this past weekend in Gulf Shores, Ala.
On Friday, TU split a pair of games, topping Freed-Hardman (2-2), 7-6, and falling to Culver-Stockton (2-2), 8-5. Sophomore pitcher
Katie Lopes (5-2) tossed three innings in the win over Freed-Hardman. Sophomore catcher
Kelsey Connolly (1-4, 2 RBI) drove in two runs. In the second game of the day, junior pitcher
Ashley Sikes (1-3) lasted only 2 2/3 innings in the loss. Sophomore
Michael Cooper (2-2, R, BB, HR, 2 RBI) drove in two runs and hit a home run.
Saturday morning the Lady Night Hawks woke up on the right side of the bed, opening the day with a 9-2 victory over Middle Georgia. Lopes tossed four innings for the win. Cooper (1-4, R, HR, 3 RBI) and Connolly (2-3, 3 R, HR, 3 RBI) each hit a home run and drove in three runs. In the night cap, #1 Auburn-Montgomery (17-1) dominated Thomas from start to finish in a six inning 9-0 run rule victory. Senior pitcher
Ashley Chapman (2-4) allowed all nine runs (five earned) over the six frames. Junior outfielder
Brittany Daniels (2-3, 2B) had two hits.
TU wrapped up play in Gulf Shores on Sunday morning, falling 5-4 in eight innings against William Carey. Chapman, once again, took the loss on the mound in 7 2/3 innings of work.
The Lady Night Hawks return home to face Brewton Parker in a double header on Tuesday beginning at 1p.m.
