Miami Gardens, Fla. – After racking up a three game winning streak, the TU Women's Basketball team (11-11, 6-6) dropped their second game in a row, on Monday evening, when they fell, 68-54, to the host St. Thomas University Bobcats (10-9, 9-3) .
STU jumped out to a 20-7 lead, after the opening 10 minutes of play, and looked on their way to a runaway win. Down by 17 at the half, the Lady Night Hawks opened the second half with a 20-3 run to tie the game but St. Thomas responded with 7 points at the end of the third, taking a 46-41 lead into the fourth period. The Bobcats put the game away in the fourth by outscoring Thomas 22-13.
The Sun Conference loss put TU in a fourth place tie, in the standings with Keiser University. Senior Ali Bra'shey, junior Rayven Thomas and junior Shaunice Bennett each scored 12 points.
TU will look to get back on their winning ways on Wednesday evening when they return to the Thomas University Gymnasium for a critical TSC match against the first place Southeastern University Fire. The game will serve as the Lady Night Hawks annual "Pink Game", in recognition of the people worldwide whom have been affected by Breast Cancer. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
