Thomasville, Ga. – Thomas Men's Basketball (10-14, 4-7) made a major statement for the TSC Tourney stretch run, by knocking off the red-hot Johnson & Wales University Wildcats (15-6, 9-3), 78-61, on Saturday afternoon at the TU Gymnasium.
TU jumped out to a 14-2 lead 12:06 left to play in the first half and never looked back the rest of the game, ending JWU's eight game winning streak and avenging a 73-57 thrashing, back in January, at the hands of the Wildcats. Thomas had four players in double digits. Junior guard
Adonai Rogers led all players with 18 points. Sophomore guard
Javoris Cooks continued his hot shooting by dropping 16 points. Freshman
Jalen Bonds collected his second double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Senior center
Andrea Robinson rounded out the double digit scoring for TU, with 13 points.
The Night Hawks will be back in action on Monday, when they travel to Miami Gardens, Fla. to face St. Thomas University in a Sun Conference match-up with drastic tourney implications. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
