Box Score Miami Gardens, Fla. – The Night Hawks Men's Basketball team (11-14, 5-7) continued their late season surge, winning their second Sun Conference game in a row, topping the host St. Thomas University Bobcats (14-8, 8-4) 73-68.
The teams exchanged baskets early in the game and found themselves notched at 13 with 11:48 to play in the opening half. TU would take charge of the game, on the strength of an 18-4 run, to take a 31-17 lead with 7:01 to play in the half. STU responded, with a 14-2 run of their own, to make it a two point game with 2:52 on the clock. The Night Hawks stepped up to the challenge and took a 39-33 lead into the locker rooms.
Thomas, once again surged in the second half to build a 10 point lead eight minutes into the game. STU stormed back to take their first lead of the game at the 9:27 mark of the second and the teams would exchange the lead four times over the next 7:17 of the game. TU took the lead for good with 2:10 to play and put the game away by going 12 from the charity stripe.
Junior
Adonai Rogers continued his hot shooting with his fifth straight double digit scoring performance, dropping a game high 17 points. Sophomore
Javoris Cooks contributed with thirteen points of his own, extending his double digit scoring streak to four. Senior
Andrea Robinson (12 points) and junior
Devonte Birdsong (13 points) gave TU four double digit scorers on the night.
The Night Hawks will look to solidify their place in the TSC tournament, seeking their third win in a row, on Wednesday when they host the Southeastern University Fire at the TU Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
