THOMASVILLE, Ga. - The Thomas University women's basketball team, will start its 2016 Sun Conference tournament run Tuesday, in historic fashion, when they host Keiser University.
Thomas (13-13, 8-8 TSC) heads into the tournament as the fourth seed, while Keiser qualified as the fifth seed. TU won both meetings between the two teams this season (Jan. 9, 66-61 in 2OT and Jan. 30, 71-53).
Senior
Bra'shey Ali leads the Lady Night Hawks in five key categories, averaging 12.83 PPG, 11.48 boards, 3.13 assists, 2.22 steals, and 1.74 blocks a game. Junior
Rayven Thomas averages 9.9 PPG, 8.6 boards and 1.64 steals a game. Senior
Bria Joyner-Williams, missed the final two regular season games but is expected to return for the tourney. She averages 10.9 PPG, 8.6 boards and 1.74 steals a game. Senior
Laura Cherranfant holds it down at the paint, averaging 1.48 blocks a game.
Keiser (14-15, 7-9 TSC) has struggled down the stretch, losing five of their last six games. The Lady Seahawks have relied on junior guard Courtney Murphy to produce points, as she leads the team in points per game (15.65). Murphy averages most of her points from behind the arc, ranking fourth in NAIA Division II in three-pointers made per game (3.69).
The historic home TSC Tournament Quarter Final match-up, is a first in the young history of the third year program. This will be TU's third straight tournament appearance, they are seeking their second straight appearance in the TSC Tournament Final Four.
TSC regulations mandate admission fees all post season games. Cost of admission will be $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children 11 and under. Children 3 and under are free.
Tipoff at the TU Gymnasium is set for 6 p.m.
