Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla. - The Warner University Lady Royals (13-14, 7-9) topped the visiting TU Lady Night Hawks (13-13, 8-8), 58-56, on Saturday afternoon in Lake Wales, Fla. It was the regular season and Sun Conference finale for each team.
TU led by as many as 13 in the 2
nd period but allowed that lead to dwindle down the one over the final seven minutes of the first half. Thomas took their 30-29 lead into the locker room. WU, scored 1:01 into the second half to take a one point lead and never looked back the remainder of the second half. The Lady Royals led by as many as eleven, with 9:11 remaining the game. Bra'shey Ali with 2:55 to play. Warner would respond with two points, from the charity stripe, before freshman
De'Audra Copeland tied the game at 54 with 2:08 on the clock. Thomas was unable to take the lead and Warner would close the game with 4 points to seal the win.
Three Lady Night Hawks hit double-digits in scoring. Ali and freshman
Dymon Brown each scored 12 while sophomore
Tess Wright contributed 11.
Thomas will now turn the focus to their historic TSC Tournament Quarter Final match-up on Tuesday evening. The home TSC Tourney game is a first in the young history of the third year program. TU will enter the tourney as the #4 seed and will host #5 seeded Keiser University. This will be TU's third straight tournament appearance, they are seeking their second straight appearance in the TSC Tournament Final Four.
TSC regulations mandate admission fees for the game. Cost of admission will be $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children 11 and under. Children 3 and under are free.
Tipoff at the TU Gymnasium is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
