THOMASVILLE, Ga. ? The Thomas University women's basketball team will make their annual visit to the Wildcat Center in North Miami, Fla. on Thursday night to play Johnson & Wales.
Â
The Lady Night Hawks (7-8, 2-3 TSC) will look to rebound after dropping two straight losses on the road against (RV) Southeastern and Webber International this past weekend. Against Webber, junior
Shaunice Bennett led the team in scoring (15 points) and assists (5). Â
Laura Cherranfant notched a double-double in the contest with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Â Thomas currently is second in the NAIA Division II in offensive rebounds per game (20.467), total rebounds per game (50.067), and total rebound margin (14.8).
Â
Johnson & Wales (3-10, 2-4 TSC) looks to snap a two-game losing streak as well, as they were defeated by Webber Int. (81-71) and St. Thomas (84-71) this past week. Sophomore point guard Diamond Williams is leading Johnson & Wales on offense, producing 12.33 points per game. Williams also leads the team in assists, averaging 3.08. Forward Kari Roberson leads the Lady Wildcats in multiple categories bringing down 66 boards and grabbing 10 steals.  Roberson was also the lone Lady Wildcat to record a double-double this season as she scored 12 points and brought down 13 rebounds against St. Thomas. JWU is 36th in NAIA Division II in free throw percentage (71.7%) and 49th in steals per game (98.538).
Â
Although Thomas has a reputation as a second-half team, they might counter this notion Thursday evening. Johnson & Wales has given up most of their 943 total points in the first half of play, allowing 313 in the first quarter and 303 in the second. The Lady Night Hawks will also look to Bennett and
Tess Wright to effectively handle the rock to combat the Lady Wildcats' defensive presence around the arch.
Â
Tipoff in North Miami is slated for 5:30 p.m.
