THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Seniors
Sara-Ann Hartley,
Mackenzie Dolan, and
Adrianna Johnson put the Lady Night Hawks on their backs this afternoon to pull out the 3-2 victory for the season sweep against (RV) Auburn Montgomery.
"Overall a great team win today," remarked head coach
Julie Orlowski. "We have been working hard on a few aspects of our play, and it was good to see that hard work pay off today."
Dolan rose to the occasion this afternoon scoring two goals while picking up one assist. In the 13th minute, the Palm City, Fla., native put Thomas on the board first with a strike to the right edge of the goal. Freshman
Anna Gray picked up her first collegiate assist on the play.
While the Lady Warhawks tied the game at 1-1 before intermission with a cross from Michaela Dahlin to Fjolla Gara, Thomas would take the 2-1 lead when Dolan picked up her second goal of the match, finishing a pass from
Olivia Taylor in the 52nd minute.
AUM battled back and netted the equalizer on an unassisted goal by Bronte Cintrone in the 74th minute to tie the match at 2-2.
With two minutes left in the match,
Adrianna Johnson lifted Thomas to the 3-2 victory when she powered a shot from just outside the box into the top right corner of the net.
Hartley had four key saves in the match that propelled the Lady Night Hawks to victory.
With the win, Thomas improves to 3-4 on the year while the Lady Warhawks drop to 3-3.
Orlowski concluded, "In our seven games we've had seven different lineups. We are young but talented, and our leaders showed up big for us today."
The Lady Night Hawks open Sun Conference play on Friday, Sept. 25, when they travel to Miami Gardens, Fla., to face Florida Memorial. First touch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
