Jason Hendrix | Sports Information Director | @JasonHendrixSID

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Thomas University's baseball team dropped its final two games of their three game series to the 18th ranked Eagles of Embry-Riddle (24-13, 11-6 TSC) this afternoon at Varnedoe Stadium.  The Night Hawks (15-17-1, 7-10 TSC) dropped an early lead in game one to lose 8-5 and were defeated 10-3 in game two in an offense tear by the visitors.

In their game one loss, Thomas managed five runs on seven hits.  Shortstop Jake Desuyo led the Night Hawks going 2-for-5 with one RBI.  TU's starter, Neal Hunter, surrendered six earned runs on seven hits in his five innings of work.  Right-hander Tyler Leach came on in sixth to work through four innings of relief giving up two earned runs on four hits.

Offensively, Thomas was down 6-1 after four innings and powered back in the fifth and sixth to cut ERAU's lead to 6-5.  However, the Eagles closed out the contest plating two insurance runs in the eighth leading to the 8-5 loss for the Night Hawks.

The nightcap belonged to the nationally-ranked Eagles as they scored 10 runs, eight earned.  TU starter Ben Overman lasted seven innings for the Night Hawks allowing six runs, five earned, on 11 hits.  The right-hander struck out three of the 36 batters faced in the loss.

Catcher Kaleb Holbrook led the Night Hawks in game two going 3-for-4 at the plate, driving in two of the three Night Hawk runs of the game.  After nine, Thomas fell in defeat in a 10-3 loss.

The Night Hawks return to action on Tues., March 31 when they to travel to Columbus, Ga., to face No. 5 Georgia Gwinnett in a neutral field double-header.  First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. from Golden Park with game two starting 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first.
