DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Thomas University women's basketball suffered its eleventh loss of the 2015 season tonight falling 78-59 on the road to Embry-Riddle.

The Lady Night Hawks jumped out to the early lead in the opening minutes of the contest and then pushed the gap to an eight point, 19-11, deficit at its height.  However, this lead would slowly dwindle down to four points, 25-21, with 6:08 remaining until the break.

Thomas controlled the lead until the 4:24 mark when the Lady Eagles stormed off on a 13-0 run to gain a six point, 36-30, lead heading into halftime.

Head coach Coretta Brown took the half to regroup the Lady Night Hawks.  Thomas controlled the opening minutes of the second half to score seven unanswered points regaining the 37-36 lead.  This was Thomas' final lead of the game.

TU would narrow the gap to 59-54 with 5:05 left in the game, but they simply could not overcome the defensive pressure put on by ERAU.  Embry-Riddle would pull away in the winding minutes of the game to close with a 19-5 run en route to the 78-59 win.

Three Lady Night Hawks were in double figures for the night.  Courtney Saunds led the Hunter Green and White with 18 points and four rebounds while Jessica Anderson netted 13 points with four rebounds.  Laura Cherranfant narrowly missed a double-double scoring 12 points and bringing down nine boards.  ERAU's Mercedes Jorge led all scorers with 21, narrowly missing a double-double with nine rebounds.

"Rebounding, or lack of thereof, hurt us tremendously tonight," stated Brown.  "We gave up 16 offensive rebounds, which was obviously too many.  We have got to do a better job converting at the free throw line."

Thomas drops to 10-15, 7-9 TSC, while the Lady Eagles improve to 15-10, 7-9 on the year.

The Lady Night Hawks return to action on Thursday, Feb. 19 when they host Sun Conference rival St. Thomas University in the final regular season home game of the year.  Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
