Thomas Goes For Third Straight Win Versus Lady Barons

Jacob Dennis | Sports Information Intern | @jakeyd_8

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University women's basketball team, fresh off of a 2-0 week, will go for a third consecutive victory at home versus Brewton-Parker on Veterans Day.  After a season-opening loss the Lady Night Hawks have reeled off two consecutive victories, as the team edged a talented Middle Georgia State team 61-60 before ousting Coastal Georgia 85-78.

Bra'shey Ali, who was named the TSC women's basketball player of the week, has been outstanding for TU through three games, as her 17.0 points per game average tops all Lady Night Hawk scorers.  Ali is followed by Ze'Nya Butler and Bria Joyner-Williams, who are currently averaging 12.0 and 11.3 points per game, respectively.

Despite shooting less than 35 percent from the floor in the opening three games, the Lady Night Hawks have been one of the top rebounding teams in the conference.  TU is pulling down a whopping 51.3 boards per game and is allowing just 36.3.  The Lady Night Hawks' proficiency on the glass is here to stay, and when shots begin to fall more frequently for Coretta Brown's team, TU will be a tough team to defeat.

Brewton-Parker, Thomas' next opponent, struggled to just two wins a season ago, but the Lady Barons have a solid blend of veteran experience and youthful talent that could raise the team's competitiveness exponentially in the Southern States Athletic Conference this season.

The Lady Barons have several freshmen on the roster this season, but the team also has significant scoring threats like Kenya Durden, who was frequently the second- or third-highest scorer in games last season.  Durden is averaging five points per game this season, but Brewton-Parker has numerous players who have stepped up in the scoring department.  The team is currently led by Kendricka Glover (14.7 ppg) and Keiwanna Patterson (10.3 ppg).

The Lady Night Hawks will go for a third consecutive victory Wednesday night.  Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
