Night Hawks Take OT Thriller over Warner

Jason Hendrix | Sports Information Director | @JasonHendrixSID

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – While Saturday's contest hosted Thomas' annual Breast Cancer Awareness Day and Pink Out, the Night Hawks also celebrated a meaningful 2-1 overtime victory over the visiting Royals of Warner University.

The Night Hawks, who were down 1-0 at the intermission, didn't score their first goal of the match until the 64th minute when Jesper Svall lifted a cross through the box where Severin Abt chipped a one-timer into the net.

At the end of regulation, the contest set knotted at 1-1.  Eight minutes into the extra period, Thomas would capitalize on a long ball that was caroled by Juan Figueroa and tipped through the box to Patrick Ramdial who speared a right-footed shot to the left corner of the net.  The Golden Goal gave the Night Hawks their second win in two days as they grabbed the 2-1 victory.

Assistant coach Nathan Would reflected, "The boys worked hard today against a well-organized group from Warner.  Although it would have been nice to put away a few of our earlier chances and finish the game in regulation, we got the job done and look forward to a good week of practice in preparation for our next match on Thursday."

With the win, Thomas improves to 9-2, 3-1 TSC, on the year while the Royals drop to 0-7-1, 0-4 TSC.

The Night Hawks return to action on Thursday, Oct. 9, when they travel to North Miami, Fla., to face Sun Conference rival Johnson & Wales University.  First touch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
