THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The 2015 regular season came to a close this evening as the 16th-ranked Thomas University men's soccer team was edged by SCAD-Savannah 2-1 in a rematch of the 2014 TSC tournament final.
Â
The Bees, who outshot the Night Hawks 22-to-7, jumped out to the 1-0 advantage in the 34th minute with a goal by Jordan Trinci-Lyne. The forward's first strike of the night came from a cross through the box to the right side from Will Oswin where Trinci-Lyne boated it into the lower right-hand corner of the net.
Â
Just five minutes later, Thomas (13-4, 6-3 TSC) would equalize the match on a blast by
Lyle Gifford. The shot evened the match at 1-1 heading into the intermission.
Â
SCAD-Savannah (7-8-2, 3-5-1 TSC) controlled the ball for most of the second half of play in Night Hawk territory firing off 14 of its 22 shots of the night. In the 77th minute, the Bees would capitalize when Trinci-Lyne picked up his second goal of the evening, leading to the 2-1 victory in favor of the visiting Bees.
Â
Head coach
Ricky Zambrano reflected, "We lost to a more deserving and prideful team."
