TU Softball (15-16, 1-1) split a double header against the visiting Southeastern University Fire (18-9, 1-1) in their Sun Conference opener yesterday afternoon at Armory Field.
Down 4-2 after 4 ½ innings in game one, Thomas rallied to score three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to take a 7-4 lead. SEU scored one in the seventh to make it a three run game before TU wrapped their first TSC win of the year. Sophomore designated player Alex VanWagner (0-4, R, 2 RBI) drove in two runs. Ashley Sikes (5-2) allowed five runs (two earned) on six hits, going all the way for the win.
Southeastern one hit the Lady Night Hawks in a 9-0 game two win. Senior starting pitcher
Aimee Johnson (1-8) lasted only one plus innings in the loss, giving up eight earned runs on nine hits.
Today's double header against Auburn University – Montgomery was cancelled due to the threat of storms in the Thomasville area. Thomas will return to action on Saturday April 5
th when they travel to Daytona Beach, Fla. for a TSC double header, beginning at 1 p.m., against Embry Riddle University.
