Concordia and Lady Night Hawks Softball Split DH

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The visiting Concordia University Cardinals (10-6) and the Lady Night Hawks (14-15) split a Friday afternoon double header at Armory Field.

TU topped CU 2-1 in game one. Concordia walked in the eventual game winning run in the bottom of the sixth after TU loaded the bases on two walks and an error. Freshman relief pitcher Ashley Sikes (4-2) picked up the win with two innings of shutout ball.

Thomas was unable to complete the sweep after giving up a four run lead when Concordia tied the game at four in the top of the fourth. Junior center fielder Aileen Fiallo (1-4, R, 2 RBI, HR) broke the tie with a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth but CU responded with three runs in the top of the sixth. The Cardinals would shut down the TU bats over the final two frames to wrap up the win. Senior relief pitcher Aimee Johnson (1-7) took the loss.

Softball will open their 2014 Sun Conference slate tomorrow afternoon when they welcome Southeastern University to Armory Field for a double header beginning at 1 p.m.
